Thank you for supporting Writing for Peace.

Our administration is board operated, and all members, board and advisers, work on a volunteer basis. 100% of contributions go to support our mission. Writing for Peace is a 501c3 nonprofit corporation, Federal Tax ID Number, 45-2968027.

It’s a simple mission with profound affect on the lives of young writers all over the world:

Through education and creative writing, Writing for Peace seeks to cultivate the empathy that allows minds to open to new cultural views, to value the differences as well as the hopes and dreams that unite all of humanity, to develop a spirit of leadership and peaceful activism.

In their words:

Jordan Dalton, 2013 Fiction, First Place“Since writing my entry for Writing for Peace, I’ve come to realize that my work really can make a difference in the world. Words have the power to spread awareness, hope, and inspiration to people who would have otherwise despaired. We all have the ability to create, and create in the name of beauty and change. I can only hope one day to spend my life doing just that.”

Jordan Dalton, Carmel, Indiana, Age 16

Kasturi Pananjady, 2013 Fiction, 3rde Place“Since Writing for Peace, I have become bolder in terms of sharing my work and putting myself out there. My writing has appeared in The Hindu, a leading Indian daily, and Voices of the World, a Projects Abroad initiative. I was also shortlisted as one of forty finalists out of over seven hundred young hopefuls around the world in the Laura Thomas Communications Short Story Competition, 2013 and have recently been shortlisted as a finalist in the Laura Thomas Communications Poetry Writing Contest 2014, my first foray into writing serious poetry. I have also dabbled in non-fiction writing over the course of the past year, and just last month I placed first in an essay writing competition.”

Kasturi Panajady, Karnataka, India, Age 15

I have made a donation to W4P to purchase a boxed set of DoveTale Literary Journals for the Rocky Mountain High School library in Fort Collins, in honor of Paul De Maret. This extraordinary educator has been inspiring students and expanding young hearts and minds for seventeen years and still going strong. Paul, “No matter where you go … there you are,” and thankfully, there you are at RMHS.
    In appreciation,
    Elissa Tivona
